Salford City Council and Muse worked together to produce the masterplan vision for the future of Eccles Town Centre - shaped by the people who live, work, and spend time here.

The Masterplan Vision is moving forward

Following two phases of Community conversations, the Eccles Town Centre Masterplan Vision has now been submitted to Salford City Council for Cabinet approval.

This is an important step. The Masterplan Vision sets out the overall direction for the future of Eccles town centre and will guide the more detailed proposals and planning applications that come forward over time.

Is this the final planning application?

The Masterplan Vision is not a planning application and it is not a fixed final design.

It is a high-level document that will guide the transformation of Eccles town centre over the next 10–15 years. More detailed proposals will come forward through future planning applications and highway schemes, with further opportunities for residents and stakeholders to have their say as detailed plans are progressed.

Salford City Council’s Cabinet will consider the Eccles town centre Masterplan Vision for approval on 10th November 2026.

If approved, it will provide the framework for future investment and regeneration in Eccles.

What is a Masterplan Vision?

The Masterplan Vision sets out the overall direction for how Eccles town centre could change over time. It shows how homes, shops, public spaces and connections could work together as regeneration progresses.

It is not a fixed design or a planning application. More detailed proposals will come forward through future planning applications, with further opportunities for local people to have their say.

A proud heritage

Eccles’ story stretches back to the 14th century – a town built on community, craftsmanship and innovation.

The Masterplan Vision seeks to protect and celebrate places including St Mary’s Church, Eccles Town Hall, Eccles Library and other historic buildings and landmarks, while creating new opportunities for artwork, storytelling and heritage trails.
