Potential Quick Wins

We want to introduce early improvements that can bring more life and confidence back into Eccles Town Centre while longer-term plans move forward.

You told us that early changes should focus on community activity, green space, play and events, creating more reasons for people of all ages to spend time in the town centre.

These early ideas aim to keep the centre active and welcoming, support local businesses and test approaches that can shape future plans.

New Homes

New homes are a key part of the draft masterplan for Eccles Town Centre.

Around 1,272 homes would be delivered over time, including homes for social rent, affordable housing, private rent and homes to buy. This mix would provide options for families, people looking to downsize, and those hoping to get onto the property ladder for the first time.

Most buildings would be around three storeys tall, with some reaching up to 12 storeys in certain locations. In specific areas near the motorway, taller buildings of around 20–27 storeys could be built, helping create a clear landmark while limiting impacts on surrounding neighbourhoods.

Bringing more people into and around the town centre will help support local businesses and make streets feel livelier and safer throughout the day and evening.
